Sign-Waving in Kyle; Food Distribution in Martin

Good evening District 27. Today I was up before the crack of dawn making my way to Kyle to perform sign-waving at the junction of BIA Route 2 and Route 4 across from Little Wound High School at 7 AM. It was a frigid morning with the temperature at 41 degrees but steadily warmed up nicely once the sun came up over the horizon.

I greeted a lot of people dropping their sons and daughters off at school and waved to several bus drivers and school staff. A lot of people were pleasantly surprised at somebody waving to them at this hour in the morning. I was able to put an early morning smile on the faces of several people. I even had several vehicles honk their horns. I had some great conversations with several people who stopped by and wanted to get to know me. I was able to get some of my campaign literature distributed into the hands of the voters.

After sign-waving for two hours, I got myself a breakfast-baked muffin with sausage, egg, and cheese from a local vendor selling them near the Kyle post office. It warmed me up. After a quick check on my jumbo sign at the local grocery store, I quickly zipped back to Martin to volunteer with the Feeding South Dakota program at 10:30 AM. It was the 4th Wednesday of the month and my friend Kris Kratovil and I checked in approximately 120 families. I have been helping out as a volunteer with Feeding South Dakota now for over a year and enjoy the opportunity to talk with the people waiting in line. Once noon arrived, the food distribution was done, and I dropped off some of the excess food at my neighbor’s home.

After I got back home, I had my first phone call conversation with one of South Dakota's state legislatures who left me a voicemail. After some phone tag, I received a call back from the East River legislature who wanted to know more about me and wanted to know how I am doing on my campaign. I appreciated him making the effort to get to know me. He wished me all the best and is looking forward to working with me in the legislature.

After eating a quick bite, I went out to Martin North Housing to canvass voters. I had some great conversations, and I was able to get some more of my campaign literature distributed, but was told to come back since the majority of the homeowners were at work. So, after 6 PM, I quickly got in my vehicle and drove back out to North Housing to canvass the remaining voters. It was pitch dark by the time I got to my last home.

After a long day on the campaign trail, the Lord again assured me that He’s got my back. I just need to go where the people are. Tomorrow the plan is to do some more sign-waving at an undisclosed location. Stay tuned tomorrow to find out where. Have a good night. God bless.
