Good afternoon District 27. Today I got up early in the bitter cold temps to hang up my American flag. As I write this blog, the temps outside are -6°F with brisk winds from the northwest. It has been well over two months since I posted on my blog and I wanted to say how great a day it is for our country. Today we not only celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s Day, but today we celebrate the Inauguration of a new president. This day could not have come fast enough. Though the bitter temps are cold outside, I watched the livestream broadcast of the inauguration of our new president in the comfort of my living room this morning.
I am grateful that Donald J. Trump was inaugurated as our 47th President of the United States. President Trump and his administration will usher in a golden age of peace and prosperity. Unlike his predecessor, who issued last-minute pre-emptive pardons to his brothers, sisters, and in-laws, President Trump will put an end to the corruption within our government and the weaponization of our Department of Justice. He will "fight, fight, fight" for the American people, unlike his predecessor who did not fight for you, but lined the pockets of his family and special interests and opened up our southern borders to the cartels to freely walk in. I look forward to the next 100 days to see how the new administration will follow through on the promises made throughout the campaign.
Much like our president's fighting spirit, I have found a new spirit to stay engaged in the political process by holding our elected officials accountable to the American people. I am actively monitoring what is happening in the legislative session in Pierre and reviewing the performance of our current District 27 legislators. Since the local media refuses to reveal the truth and expose the corruption, it is time that the American people take back our country and in the words of our new President "Make America Great Again!" God bless.
