This past weekend, I celebrated America's 250th Birthday in Wall, South Dakota. I had the opportunity to participate in the parade and enjoy pancakes and sausage early in the morning in support of the Wall Volunteer Fire Department and EMT Service.
After the parade, I attended the Lutheran church ice cream social and fundraiser, where I met several wonderful people. The homemade ice cream was delicious! I sampled four flavors—blueberry cheesecake, cherry nut, peach, and carrot cake—each one was exceptional.
With a full stomach, I explored the community activities near City Hall, including water slides for the kids and a cornhole tournament under the big tent. I also visited the Western Art Show at the City Auditorium, where talented local artists displayed their work.
Later, I stopped by Wall Drug for a free cake doughnut and some ice water to cool off from the 95-degree heat. Before leaving town, I stopped at the famous dinosaur along Interstate 90 and then visited the Minuteman Missile National Historic Site (Delta-09), located just east of Wall along the I-90 Freeway. After a quick tour, I headed home through Badlands National Park and captured some great photos along the way.
It was a long but enjoyable day. I am grateful for the opportunity to participate in another community celebration in District 27. The people of this district are what make this area such a special place to live.
Below is a video I made of this memorable day. Enjoy!
