Today, I celebrated America's 250th Birthday in the small-town community of Wasta, South Dakota, located along Interstate 90 in eastern Pennington County.
I had the opportunity to participate in the parade and attend the community picnic sponsored by the Wasta Methodist Church before heading back to Martin. There were plenty of delicious desserts to choose from, and I enjoyed visiting with several local voters. Before leaving, I purchased a rubber duck that would be dropped from the Old Cheynne River Bridge in support of the Wasta VFD duck race fundraiser.
On my way home, I took the back roads through Badlands National Park to enjoy the beautiful scenery. After returning to Martin, I ended the day by watching the fireworks display, which is always a highlight of the celebration.
