Today, I was interviewed regarding my position on property rights and local control, specifically the use of eminent domain for private gain and other local issues affecting landowners across South Dakota. Click on the YouTube video link below:

As a supporter of private property rights and local control, I advocated for the NO on Referred Law 21, which overwhelmingly stopped a CO2 pipeline from using eminent domain. I helped gather signatures to put the referred law (SB 201) on the ballot, posted signs encouraging voters to vote "NO" on the referred law, contacted voters via text message, and posted on my blog the effects of allowing the pipeline to be constructed.

In 2024, the voters overwhelmingly said "NO" to the use of eminent domain for private gain. NOTE: Don't be fooled by the title of the referred law. This was used to confuse the voters. However, as you can see from the election results, the voters saw through the smoke and mirrors. See the election results of the referred law below:

If elected to the state senate, I will stand alongside our private landowners to protect their right to possess, control, exclude, enjoy, and dispose (sell, gift, lease, or bequeath) of their property as necessary. You worked hard to purchase your property, and you have every right to protect it.
